Savannah, GA.: The Maher Team had a busy week at SETA’s 2015 Conference in Savannah, Georgia in late September. A group of our consulting staff from our Federal Workforce Solutions Practice delivered a series of professional development workshops intended to help folks improve System performance and better prepare for the looming implementation of the Nation’s Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA).
Led by Rick Maher, the Firm’s President and CEO, members of the Maher Team descended on Savannah with a purpose – to help engage attendees in a positive and engaging discussion of the new Act and how to best prepare for System change.
“I was proud of our Team. They were everywhere – running workshops, staging video shoots for training products and attending sessions themselves,” said Maher. “When we stop learning ourselves, we cannot be as good for our clients – so we place a premium on openness to new ideas, innovation and dialoguing with System leaders who are making things happen everyday … and our staff was really working hard on all these levels while at SETA!”
Maher Staff led sessions on many key areas of the new law and its implementation including:
In addition to the workshops presented, Maher staff was also coordinating interviews with attendees who are innovating in leadership, managing change and more for ETA’s Voices of Experience videos. The video-based interviews are being produced to help scale emerging promising practices from within the workforce system and will be housed on the Employment and Training Administration’s (ETA) Innovation and Opportunity Network (ION).
Designed, built and hosted for ETA by Maher’s IT Team, ION is part of ETA’s Workforce One, and is its new online portal for sharing information and technical assistance with the Nation’s Workforce Development System regarding planning for WIOA implementation. It can be found here.
