Process Map to Fully Align Your Organization’s Functions with its Mission and Goals

To effectively lead change and innovation, organizations need to strategically allocate resources and establish efficient processes. The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity’s Office of Employment and Training (OET) recently engaged Maher & Maher to lead the organization through an intensive process mapping effort designed to maximize the agency’s resources and strategic implementation of three processes critical to the agency’s mission: Rapid Response, Monitoring, and Policy Development. The project provided OET with “as-is” maps which outlined the current, inefficient processes; “should be” maps which included new and refined steps to maximize efficiency and effectiveness; and clear recommendations regarding the resource allocation and policy/procedure development needed to implement the “should be” process.

In the final phase of the project, Maher & Maher focused on ensuring that OET staff had the capacity and knowledge needed to move forward with mapping internal processes on their own. Deliverables included a “Process Mapping How-to Guide,” which outlined the approach and offered key strategies and tools to support OET staff leading future internal process mapping. The project culminated in the design and delivery of a Process Mapping virtual mini-training for all OET staff.
