Our Capabilities

Best Practices Management

Since our inception in 1987, we have worked with our clients to identify, capture, disseminate, and bring best practices to scale across organizations in both the public and private sectors.

At Maher & Maher, we define best practices simply as “a method or technique that has consistently shown results superior to those achieved with other means, and that is used as a benchmark.”

Since we focus our engagements in the talent development arena in selected public and private sectors, we are able to be informed and “connect the dots” for our clients by cross-referencing innovations, activities, and deliverables across our government and corporate practices.

In the private sector, we:

  • Deployed key training support for the Road Runner high speed internet service (the first of its kind in our Nation) for Time Warner Cable, collecting best and promising practices across the core business processes of customer acquisition, service installation, customer service, and troubleshooting.
  • Created the AcSELLeration Series™, a targeted call center productivity solution for the support of advance broadband products in the communications industry.
  • Have led many discussions with our clients about advancing social learning as a method of advancing best practices dissemination. Increasingly, that is taking the form of online learning Communities of Practice. These learning networks allow peers to share and disseminate lessons learned and practices that show promise.

In the public sector, we have been fortunate to partner with the Department of Labor’s Employment Training Administration (ETA) across a wide number and variety of projects – most of which are complex policy initiatives that hold great promise for workforce system transformation. In our Federal projects we focus on identifying and sharing best practices with the larger workforce and education systems.

Maher & Maher’s support of the Workforce Innovation Fund Grantees is in large part to identify innovative best practices for significant system change, and to share such practices with the larger workforce system.

  • We supported ETA in the development and launch of Workforce System Strategies, a repository to provide workforce practitioners with an improved starting point for beginning to identify a range of potential workforce strategies that are informed by research evidence or peer expertise.
  • We also developed an online Community of Practice containing a repository of best practices for the ETA Office of Unemployment Insurance.
  • We staff and support the National Governor's Association Best Practices Institute - reviewing, evaluating, cataloging, and disseminating best practice innovations produced through a series of grant programs throughout the United States.

In our state and regional government work, we leverage the best practices work at the Federal level by pulling in those recognized best practices and implementing them (and often improving upon them) to meet regional, state, and local area needs. This on-the-ground best practices work better informs our Federal work and augments the online repository of best practices available to the larger workforces system.

Importantly, we are helping our clients advance bringing benchmarked practices to scale through interactive, virtual learning institutes. These advanced online events highlight best practices and foster conversations without the need for extended travel.

Our team is focused everyday on tactics and strategies to advance best practices across the enterprise – public or private. We would welcome the opportunity to discuss your needs and offer a no-obligation consultation.
