Richard D. Maher, President of Maher
& Maher, is a veteran of the human resources industry
and a recognized leader in the fields of managing organizational
change and the strategic management of human capital. Since
joining the company over 10 years ago, he has seen the dynamics
of the industry evolve, and has responded to those trends
through innovative approaches to managing workforce resistance
to change in support of large-scale business services integration
projects.
Rick has worked extensively with leading
clients in both the Communications and Public Services Practices
for the Firm in designing and implementing eLearning solutions
to large-scale workforce development challenges. Most recently,
he has spearheaded the Firm’s deployment of a new national
system, developed and funded by the U.S. Department of Labor
for connecting job seekers, educators and businesses in a
“common language” to drive economic development
known as the Occupational Information Network (O*NET). The
resulting “O*NET Academy” provides individuals
and businesses with online training and learning communities
to drive awareness and application of this new powerful tool
across the United States.
In addition to working with the U.S. Department of Labor,
Rick Maher has worked with leading clients in both the public
and private sector including: AOL/Time Warner, Cox Communications,
the New Jersey State Department of Labor, the National Association
of State Workforce Agencies, Merck, Merrill Lynch and Goldman
Sachs.
Mr. Maher has served in various executive
positions in the human resources industry prior to joining
Maher & Maher, most recently as the COO for a national
staffing services firm employing more than 4,000 people.
Rick Maher has been a featured speaker
at conferences and professional associations on the topics
of managing change and workforce development. He has authored
and spoken widely on the “Challenge of Change”
– focusing on how workers and managers can better cope
with changing workplace conditions and lead organizational
initiatives. Rick has also presented widely on cost-effective
uses for new technology with the American Society for Training and Development
(ASTD) and the International Association for Management Consultants
(IMC). Maher resides in Manasquan, NJ.
