Instructional Designer

This position is for a full-time Instructional Designer/Trainer whose primary role will be designing and developing effective and engaging instructional materials for in-person or virtual classrooms, web-based, and/or blended learning platforms. The Instructional Designer will be tasked with performing curriculum design work consistent with sound instructional design methodologies while embracing the science of modern learning.  The Instructional Designer will work as a member of a project team, reporting in the Project Manager.  S/he must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and excel at time management to meet aggressive deadlines.

This position may be based in our corporate headquarters in Neptune, New Jersey. Remote work is an option for the candidate that presents a strong self-management capacity and proven successful work-from-home history.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of instructional design methodologies, adult learning principles, human behavior and performance, methods for curriculum and training design, and the measurement of training effectiveness.
  • Strong awareness of the science of “modern learners” and ability to adapt traditional learning design and approaches to the demands of today’s adult learners.
  • Use of a broad range of interactive, creative and intuitive instructional methods, including but not limited to story-telling, simulations, games, on-the-job learning, peer and social learning, hands-on activities, interactive case studies, and assessments.
  • Work effectively with subject matter experts to identify target audience’s training needs.
  • Experience analyzing source content, target audience demographics, job tasks, and learner environment to identify learning objectives and appropriate instructional strategies.
  • Design and development of learning materials— using the Articulate 360 suite, Adobe Captivate and Creative Suite, Adobe Connect, Zoom, WebEx and other learning design, virtual classroom and web conferencing platforms, and MS Office Suite (MS Word and PowerPoint) to create workshop Facilitator and Participant materials, Instructional Guides, Job Aids, and the like.
  • Devise modes of assessment, such as tests or quizzes, to measure the effectiveness of the course.
  • Proficiency in MS Office 365 and virtual collaboration and communication platforms (SharePoint, OneDrive, Business Skype and Zoom) is a must.
  • Highly effective time and project management skills with the ability to organize, prioritize, coordinate, and implement multiple projects.  Understanding of agile workflows is a plus.
  • Maintain project documentation and course folders.
  • Ability to work independently as well as leverage online collaborative and communication tools such as Skype for Business and Zoom to lead and contribute to virtual team engagements.

 

Education Level: Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Systems Design, Instructional Technology, or Higher Education with proven adult learning solution work experience.  Master’s degree is a plus.

Experience Level: At least 2 years producing high-quality instructional materials in a deadline-oriented environment. Work samples as well as references from past employers will be required.

Required Travel: As client needs require; anticipated at up to 30%

Required Certifications/Licenses: None, CPLP a plus
