Program Manager, Education

Maher & Maher is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Education Program Manager to join our team to support our government clients. The Education Program Manager will have a leadership role in the practice with a focus on expanding Maher’s portfolio of contracts within the Education sector and to provide oversight and subject matter expertise on a variety of Federal government projects. This position will have a wide-range of responsibilities including business development, project scoping and oversight, client management, and team leadership.

The successful candidate will leverage existing relationship to identify and influence potential customer opportunities and provide quality input to proposals by capturing customer interests and needs to achieve Maher’s growth goals within the Education sector.

Responsibilities:

Develop and implement Maher’s BD strategy in the Federal Education sector

Work with multiple stakeholders providing leadership and subject matter expertise on projects  

Leverage Maher’s established capabilities and expertise in Technical Assistance and Training including virtual technical support, Integration of Services, Work Force Development, Apprenticeship, Career Pathways, K-12 and Community Colleges

Leverage knowledge of the Department of Education market and budget, existing DoEd relationships, and knowledge of industry market research tools to develop, manage and capture a pipeline of opportunities to meet DoEd account growth goals

Develop, articulate and execute strategic and tactical plans as well as specific capture efforts in Federal Education Sector

Identify and cultivate teaming partnerships and business alliances in the Education sector

Provide oversight and leadership to proposal process and write proposal content

Qualifications:

Education, Knowledge, and Experience

Bachelor’s degree required

Master’s degree in a related field (such as Adult and Continuing Education, Youth Education and Development, Public Administration, public policy, business administration, or related field) is preferred, but not required

At least 10 years of experience leading complex projects in the areas of adult education, career and technical education, adult learning theory and/or curriculum development with at least 3 of these years working directly with the Federal Department of Education

Proven experience managing complex projects, including project budgets, and teams

Previous experience with technical assistance and training activities

Skills:

Excellent communication skills (oral and written) with ability to express complex ideas clearly

Highly organized and detail oriented, with strong analytical capabilities

Successful track record of developing leads, proposal development, and winning contracts with the Department of Education.

Familiarity with federal acquisition vehicles such as FedBizOps, GSA e-Buy, contracts and GSA schedules

A self-starter with the demonstrated ability to lead project activities

Ability to manage work on multiple, concurrent projects

Resourceful and capable in anticipating problems and effectively resolving challenges

Ability to interact effectively with individuals at all organizational levels

Capability to build and maintain strong client relationships, with a focus on customer satisfaction

Ability to work effectively as a member of a diverse team

Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities

Ability to understand, develop, and monitor project budgets

Location

This is a remote position ideally based in the Washington, DC area. Candidates not based in Washington, DC will be considered, with the understanding that regular travel to the area will be required.
