Christine Shelton is a progressive and seasoned leader with more than 20 years of experience in the field of workforce development and human services. Her background includes the implementation of various federal, state and local programs and initiatives that address community needs and challenges to foster economic growth and self-sufficiency. Christine possesses expertise in leading diverse teams, program development and management, technical assistance and coaching, contract monitoring and compliance, public/private partnership development and grant writing and management. She served in several leadership roles in Maryland and the District of Columbia in the workforce development and human services arenas. In all of Christine’s positions, she had an impeccable track record and strived to make a positive impact on the initiatives and programs she managed with excellence.
Prior to joining Maher & Maher, Christine served as the Regional Administrator for Southern Maryland with the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation, under the Division of Workforce Development and Adult Learning. During her tenure, she led the redesigning of Southern Maryland’s workforce system into a Universal Design model. Through her leadership, the Southern Maryland region was recognized as one of the progressive workforce areas in Maryland. Because of this major accomplishment, Christine was deemed the subject matter expert on Universal Design and coached other workforce areas to transform their respective systems.
While serving at the District’s Department of Employment Services as the Associate Director of Special Programs, Christine directed multiple federal programs during the transition to the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act. She provided oversight of Rapid Response, Trade Adjustment Act, Work Opportunity Tax Credit, Foreign Labor Certification, and the Senior Community Services Employment Program.
Christine is serving as a Senior Analyst for the Job Corps Student-Centered Design project. She holds a BS in Rehabilitation Services. Her office is in Washington, DC and resides in Maryland.
