Today, IMPAQ and Maher & Maher announced the awardees of the IMPAQ/Maher Education Fund.
Through Maher & Maher's background in workforce development technical assistance, and IMPAQ’s expertise in workforce development research, we recognize the valuable contributions that workforce boards make toward advancing occupational readiness and preparing job seekers for good jobs in growth sectors.
The IMPAQ/Maher Education Fund provides grants to workforce boards and intermediaries in Maryland and New Jersey, to help expand and extend their services. These grants will supplement other forms of workforce funding and allow local leaders maximum flexibility in designing, implementing, and measuring local workforce development programs.
After a competitive application process, three $20,000 grants were awarded:
Anne Arundel Workforce Development Corporation (Millersville, MD) will be using funds to implement a Patient Care Technician (PCT) Pipeline Program, which will recruit, support, and place PCTs in hospitals, as a career progression for Certified Nursing Assistants, an entry-level health care position.
Employ Prince George’s, Inc. (Largo, MD) will utilize the grant funds to expand Industry Bridge Programs to English language learners, including workforce development services in sustainable energy, construction, information technology, health care, hospitality, and tourism.
The Greater Raritan Workforce Development Board (Bridgewater, NJ) will use funds to support the Occupational Readiness Training - Welding Project, which aims to deliver training and education, leading to industry credentials and livable wage employment.
“We congratulate these organizations, which are working hard to support economic expansion and develop the talent of our nation’s workforce,” said the IMPAQ/Maher Education Fund creators Avi Benus and Rick Maher. “The research and services they provide to both job seekers and employers, often at no cost, are important aspects of our national Workforce Development System, and we are proud to support their efforts.”
The IMPAQ/Maher Education Fund was created in 2018 as part of IMPAQ’s acquisition of Maher & Maher.
IMPAQ helps governments, businesses, foundations, non-profits, and universities evaluate and enhance their programs and policy through research studies, program evaluations, implementation assistance, surveys and data collection, technical solutions, and communication strategies. In January 2018, IMPAQ acquired Maher & Maher, a consulting firm providing business integration, change management, and leading-edge training solutions. Together, the two companies provide evidence-driven research and technical assistance to help people become healthier, nourished, educated, and employed.
