Feb 2012 - Neptune, NJ – Maher & Maher is pleased to announce that Linda Lawson has joined its Federal Workforce Solutions practice as a Senior Advisor. Ms. Lawson will manage the firm’s workforce training and technical assistance projects under contracts with the U.S. Department of Labor, other federal agencies and with intergovernmental organizations.
With over 20 years of experience in workforce development and adult education at the local, state and national levels, Linda is a recognized expert in workforce legislation and policy and in program development and implementation. She has built a strong reputation nationally and within the education and workforce development systems for her management of a range of program development and technical assistance efforts, including building a competency-based apprenticeship system, electronic tools, the National Business Learning Partnership (NBLP) mentor-protégé project and conducting staff capacity building training. Most recently, she served as legislative director at the National Governors Association (NGA) where she managed the labor, workforce, and post-secondary education portfolio including Workforce Investment Act (WIA) and Unemployment Insurance policy issues. Linda also served as a staff director for the National Association of State Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Directors where she led efforts to influence legislation, federal regulations and national policy for state programs serving low-income families. Early in her career, Linda managed community college employment and training programs under the Workforce Investment Act, TANF and Food Stamp Programs and was a leader in helping to establish one of the nation’s first and most comprehensive local One Stop systems. Originally from Portland, Oregon, Linda will be working from the Maher office in Washington D.C.
