One of the nation’s top multichannel video programming distributors partnered with Maher & Maher to launch their high-speed Internet services. In founding high-speed Internet service deployment via cable our client had been averaging one regional market system launch of the service per month. The classroom-training model used to support the initial launch required multiple trainers at each regional market site. This approach averaged 17 man-days to support training in preparation for each launch. The challenge posed to Maher was to support up to eight system launches per month.
In order to obtain faster levels of market penetration and improved scalability, Maher & Maher recommended, designed, and deployed the industry’s first online University. The “University” solution we created blended online learning and performance testing/reporting with much shorter “boot camp” workshop sessions where learners would demonstrate hands-on proficiency. This approach reduced the on-site time demands by nearly 70% and paid for itself in saved travel costs within the first nine-months following deployment.
Today most of our clients maintain a university-style distance learning platform – many leveraging LMS, Knowledge Management, and informal or peer-to-peer learning technologies. Maher has contributed over 100 curriculum offerings deployed via corporate universities and continues to consult with organizations looking to implement such a learning platform as part of their talent development strategy.
